Triangle

I noticed that there are many different meaning behind a triangle tattoo.
Does anyone know what the main meaning behind it is?

    4. 6, 66, and 666 are all triangular numbers. Also 21 (3X7) is a triangular number. I once saw a JW depiction of God with 21 rays around him. The Hebrew tetragrammaton has appeared inside a triangle of gold before. It appears to be an Egyptian and Hindu mystical symbol as well. The eye of Horus and the triangle in the circle of the seven chakras. Note that the triangle is 666 and the god of Israel, the Egyptians and the Hindus have an association with it. It is the symbol for the mark of the beast and used by various occult, secular, fraturnal, intelligence, military, and corporate organizations as a symbol or logo, as well as in computer culture and math/discrete geometry in general. It is also used as the surface geometry polygon for basic 3D mesh rendering in electronic games and 3D Holography. It is used in various forms as an alchemical symbol as well and is said to represent material or spiritual manifestations of earth, air, fire, and water (depending on whether or not it is pointing up or down or has a small line at the tip either way). It is also used as a structural design element in engineering and architecture.

    5. I asure you though that it is not spiritual and is in fact anti-spiritual. It is a symbol of spirit trapped in a vessel of crude form/materiality as well as a symbol for the underworld (along with other star polygons) just as the circle is used to represent a halo.

    6. It is also used to represent a symbol or symbol component to a key or interdimensional gateway for accessing another realm metaphysically or making an entry point of form for a being from said dimensions. This is an occult or magickal concept. And no I don't involve myself in that demonic mystical stuff.

  3. It has to do with gender; when pointed upwards it stands for male and downwards means female.

  5. perfection - based on a philosophy, everything working in thirds

  6. Some says it is lesbian pride. (That can be explained by the fact that a triangle downwards stands for female).

  7. The triangle has to do with the band YACHT. The second picture is of Mitchell Davis (on the left). I have asked him personally before, and it was indeed done in the name of YACHT. So many people (generally hipsters) are getting triangles that YACHT has a section on their site that tells you where you should generally get the tattoo if it is in their name. Here is their "tattoo policy" http://seemysterylights.com/pdfs/YACHT-Tattoo-Policy.pdf

  8. Mitchell Davis brought on a lot of YACHT fans, but not everyone understands the meaning of the Triangle. Many of Mitchell Davis' fans question the Triangle's meaning because they do not know. And they do not know because they blindly like triangles because of him.
YACHT is a belief system, as well as a band.

  16. i have a triangle tattoo.

everyone gets a tattoo for their own reason.

to me, the shape represents that everything comes in 3's.

    for example: positive, zero, negative.
    white, gray, black.
    happy, indifferent, sad.
    past, present, future.

  17. I've been thinking about getting a triangle tattoo but then all my friends started confusing it with Illuminati. The reason why I haven't got it yet is because I want to be sure. I don't wanna have to defend myself every time someone asks me if I'm illuminatio because of the tattoo. I think you have to be quite sure and have a lot of knowledge about the tattoo before you get it, because it's gonna be on you for the rest of your life.

  20. I definitely wouldn't want to have a tattoo of something that others can look at & get the wrong idea about. Everyone can have an opinion about a triangle but there is one meaning behind it, one being it belongs to & elledee said it! Satan! Why don't you do a little more historical research on the origin of a triangle...the waves of what is in style are nothing new! Never are! The triangle goes all the way back to Pharaoh's time! Good luck.

    1. Hmmm, doubt it... Considering the triangle was used by various Pagan religions, I am guessing the reason it is considered a symbol of "Satan" is because some random Christian group decided that since Pagan's were using it they had to claim it was evil.

That is complete BS that "there is one meaning behind it." Symbols are given their meaning by people. The triangle probably pre-dates the Pharaoh. To actually think that you know it's origins and it's "true" meaning is just ridiculous and arrogant.

    2. you are referring to a triangle with equal length sides. whose points have an angle of 60 degrees each. (60-60-60). that is why some people refer to it as a satanic symbol.

    3. in christianism the triangle (trinity) represent something holy

  21. I got 2 yesterday one upwards and one downwards - in alchemy they mean Fire and Water. Ooooooh coooolll :)

  22. I just got an upward triangle done to cover a scar on my forearm. For me it's really about the strength of the triangle. Engineers use it to build bridges/structures, military formations use it to fortify their positions / hold ground, I practice jiu jitsu and there is a triangle in virtually everything you do, simply because it is such a structurally strong shape, and I chose the triangle to cover this particular scar for these very reasons.

  23. everybody has their own meanings too it. it is symbol ed through the Illuminati. and which had created a stupid "hipster" trend. but its just one of those things that no one knows the meaning yet they use the symbol. and yes it is used in YACHT.

  24. Traditionally I see triangles going back to Nazi death camps. My uncle wore a solid black triangle as a political prisoner. Haveing researched this 20 years back I do not have full recollection. I remeber solid pink was homosexual. Other colours for other reasons. It would overlap a yellow triangle to make a Jewish star if there were reasons to distinguish a Jewish prisoner also as homosexual. Pink triangles were popular around the club scene in lower Manhattan in the early 1990's....

  25. The upward triangle is the symbol for fire, and the downward symbol is for water. They are opposite elements that ultimately collaborate to produce balance. When water is placed on top of fire it creates unity.

  30. This was actually really helpful! I have been trying to find something to cover up my birth date on my neck because it wasnt done well (first tattoo). I find the mathematic and scientific reasons very appealing. The alchemy fact is very interesting, as well as the one on lesbian pride. I also like the concept of 3rds. Being a musician the "play symbol" is adorable. and being a sagitarius I suppose its irronic I was going to have it tattooed upwards. This was all awesome information! I was looking up the meaning behind it doing as much research as possible and this was the most helpful. You all had GREAT advice to offer. I think my next check Ill be getting a triangle tattoo. THANKS RANDOM PAGE!

  33. Triangles are my favorite shape.
Three points where two lines meet.
Coast to coast back to back lets go.
I'm getting mine for change, for the better.
Also because three has been a big part of my life, everything does come in threes.

  34. I got a triangle tattoo yesterday and my meaning behind it is this; A triangle is the mathematical symbol for change. Although I am still young, I have done a lot of changing and growing up and I like to remind myself of the positive changes I have made for myself.

  35. Triangles have a multitude of meanings, ranging from religious to common pop culture symbolism.
In BC times, the shape represented water (pointed down) and fire (pointed up). It also represented the Triple Woman from Pagan/Celtic triads. They also represented the moon (down) and the sun (up) for Greek astronomers. In the Greek alphabet, the triangle is the letter D, or Delta. In Judaism, David used two overlapping leather triangles to create his shield, which is where the Star of David originates.
According to the Bible, Jesus had triangular patterning on his goblet in the Last Supper. The triangle was therefore adopted by the Pope as a symbol of forgiveness and penance. It also means the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.
Roman maps used the symbol to show caves (down) and mountains (up), symbols which are still used in today's atlases.
The down-pointed triangle means passive, and the up, active.
It also stands for the Illuminati.
The black, up pointed triangle was used to identify political prisoners in Nazi death camps. A yellow Star of David were for the Jewish, and pink triangles for homosexuals. Red triangles were used for soldiers or German citizens who'd committed treason against the state.
In the 1960's it was adopted as a feminist symbol for genes equality, striped for gay rights.
Vintage computer graphics used it as an arrow. The triangle turned on it's side represented the 'play' button on a stereo, which also morphed into fast forward and rewind. Swedish graphic typography formed the letter A out of the triangle.
In engineering terms, the triangle can symbolize strong or weak points in a structure, the same in traditional martial art movements.
The upward pointed triangle represents the male genitalia in medical symbols, just as the female symbol is a down-pointed triangle.
In the military, the upward pointed triangles represent a ranking system in terms of status.
In WW1, prisoners of war had a red triangle printed next to their cause of death on their death certificates.
In Ancient Asia cultures, the triangle could represent the Emperor's family or house. Pacific cultures used the symbol as a sign of good luck. Mathematically, it's the symbol of change.
In modern art, the symbol stands for strength and fluidity of an idea.
Traditionally, when it was tattooed onto a woman's body, pointed down, it was a sign of dishonor and prostitution.
Today, it means a multitude of things, from ATL J (musician) to zodiac symbolism (both up and down triangles) to lesbian identification (down-pointed pink triangle) to the band YACHT. It's been adopted by youth pop culture as a symbol of individuality and independency, as well as meaning solidarity and strength.

Just to name a few :)

    1. Well, you actually said it. It means that it's forever, so you might want to get one for a friendship, a love story or something that you want to live on forever. And it's also impossible to undo it (The triangle as much as the tattoo). And it's called a Penrose triangle, and I found a quote that was like ''Every Penrose triangle has its thorn''.

  40. Look into pyramids. Look at the back of the US money.
Read about Satanic signs. Read about Satanism but don't get into it. Don't watch videos on the internet, but actually study it. Satan is against everything Holy. You will understand how it works in detail.
MANY people use all kinds of markings/signs etc and say other things about it. We just overlook it.
Not just this YACHT group. Watch "Die Young" music video by Ke$ha.

  42. Hipsters get the lamest triangle tattoos. They put no effort into getting something unique done and instead get a simple outline of a triangle and think it's the coolest thing ever. A simple Google search results in dozens of pictures of wild geometric shapes made with triangles. For people who claim to be unique and pride themselves in going against what's popular, being even the one-hundredth hipster to get the exact same tattoo in the exact same spot should result in nothing less than spontaneous human combustion.

  44. It depends on what kind of triangle, but the original meaning of the triangle tattoos are to represent the elements. If it's a normal triangle (pyramid) with a line through it, it means Air. If its a normal triangle with no line through it, it means Fire. If it's a upside down triangle with a line through it, it means Earth. An upside down triangle with no line through it means Water. The YACHT symbolism is recent, along with the LGBTQ one. My upside down triangle symbolizes water.
